Why I'm learning ballet, the violin, and piano

Six reasons why

01. Ballet is Expressive, Yet Athletic

Ballet combines physical training with music and artistry.  find it so emotionally engaging, and it fulfils me creatively.

02. The Violin Offers Emotional Release & Expression

Playing the violin just ignites something within my soul. I’ve always loved how the violin sounds like a person weeping. For a person who is not in touch with their emotions as much as they’d like, this really speaks to me

03. The Piano Improves My Emotional Wellbeing

The piano (as well as the violin) is my emotional outlet. As aforementioned, I find it hard to express how I feel, but through a beautiful song, I can emote.

04. Ballet is All About Strength!

Ballet develops core strength, coordination, flexibility, and stability. I feel like I walk differently after class with better posture and body awareness in everyday life, which improves my confidence.

05. A Two Decade Long Dream

Playing the violin has been a goal of mine since I was a teenager. I’m in the later part of my life, and it has been transformative because I challenged the idea that serious learning belongs only to the young.

06. The Piano Offers a Lasting Sense of Achievement

Learning the piano has been out of this world! To play a piece that at first seemed impossible is the dream and is deeply satisfying.

About Me

As you know, I’m an adult, but you may be wondering how old I am. I’m currently 38 years old and was born in 1987 (in case I don’t update this). So, I’m basically approaching 40. It first started with wanting to learn how to play the violin in my teens.

I bought my first violin in 2008. I then bought a keyboard in 2009. In 2010, I “discovered” ballet.

Yes, all in quick succession. It would be a couple of years before my first violin lesson. I pretty much immediately started going to ballet classes after I discovered its beauty. It would be several years until my first piano lesson.

I dipped in and out during the years and finally (I hope) decided to stick with them in November 2025.
