I am hoping to become a maths tutor, and possibly a biology and chemistry tutor. I’m even enrolled on a Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Tutoring (starts September 2026), but is teaching ballet, the violin and piano in my future?

I’m not talking anytime soon! Far from it! I’m talking like ten to fifteen years from now, when I hope I will have advanced greatly in each discipline. I’ll take courses to learn about teaching these subjects. In particular, for ballet, there is a certificate that I can enrol on to be able to teach the RAD syllabus. This is, hopefully, after I will have hopefully attained Advanced 2.

Yesterday, I looked at Trinity Laban’s website, and they offer an MA in Music Education. I still need to look at the entry requirements, but at least I know it exists.

You may be thinking I’m getting ahead of myself. Trust me, I feel the same. After all, it’s only been six months since my return to these disciplines, but I just like to have something to look forward to. By no means am I learning these things for the purpose of teaching and making money from it, actually, I didn’t even think of teaching these subjects until I considered tutoring in general as a career choice. I’m learning them for the love of the art form.
