A few months ago, my goal was to do grade 1, just for the sake of learning pieces, and getting used to the instrument again, but to take exams once I reach grade 2. My teacher misunderstood me and said to buy the grade 2 book. I bought it, and he bought it. Once I told him I had it, he said ok let’s start with ‘this piece” “Ok…” I thought. It was harder than I imagined. I told him, and after a few lessons, we went back to grade 1.

Grade 1 has been good. The only issue I have sometimes is placing my third finger in the correct place to produce the right tone. Especially the D note in the Flintstones.

Today, I was finally ready for grade 2! Exciting times! It’s difficult, but not as difficult as it was just a few months ago!

I’m learning:

Ecossaise in G

Halleluyah

And next week we will learn Climb Ev’ry Mountain. He hasn’t given me a fourth piece yet.

I’m finding the line with four notes slurred in Ecossaise in G sooo hard! But with practice, hopefully, I’ll get better. I’ll let you know how it goes over the next few months!
