I love the title of this post… why? Well, my mum would say it all the time, at one point, at least a few times a month!
Anyway, why the title?
Well, in addition to my leg/hip pain that I’ve had for a few months now, a few days ago, I had pain in my right foot (at the top of the foot). Now, yesterday, I felt a lot of pain in my shins. Mainly felt it when I stretched or when I walked. Actually, for two days in a row, I’ve had to cut my dog walks to the park short because I just couldn’t walk anymore! I soo need to massage it. Perhaps that’ll help?
My age is truly showing! Sometimes I wonder if things need to get worse before they get better, or whether pursuing ballet at my age is possible, but then I know it’s possible, because I’ve read stories of people starting ballet my age, and even later. For example, there’s someone on a ballet forum who started ballet aged 44, I believe and is currently taking her RAD Intermediate exam after a few years. So I know it’s possible, but then at the same time, everyone is different.
It’s not like I don’t do fitness exercises. I lift weights and do yoga or splits classes a few times a week, though I must admit, these have come to a crawl over the last two or so weeks. I’m hoping to pick them up more and more as the weeks go on, because strength, flexibility and ballet go hand in hand!
As I told you, I started private Vaganova ballet lessons over two months ago. Ten sessions have passed, and she’s sent me an offer for another ten, which start next Wednesday. Not to mention (I haven’t told you this, but I had four private ballet lessons I had learning some RAD grade 3 and 4 exercises back in March). I want to continue, but I still need to make a purchase of her services. She’s only free on the weekends as she works for a ballet company during the week (she even has rehearsals on Saturday, but she manages to squeeze me in). Sundays are my free day, so I don’t like to have classes on that day (perhaps Yoga in the morning, but that’s it).
